Vadodara cries out against Pulwama terror attack

Vadodara: Protests, condolence meetings and candlelight marches were held across the city on Friday as Barodians mourned the dastardly Pulwama terror attack that left 40 CRPF soldiers dead.At M S University campus, DJ programme which was scheduled on Friday was cancelled by MSU Students Union (MSUSU). MSU officials condemned the cowardly attack on the paramilitary forces and held a condolence meeting at the senate hall to express solidarity and pay tribute to the martyred soldiers. Citizens of the old city area also held a tribute at Gandhinagar Gruh on Friday evening. Instead, the union organized prayer meeting to pay tribute to the martyrs. Bajrang Dal workers burnt Pakistan’s flag at Dairy Den circle while Congress workers paid hommage near Lal Court.

The celebrations which were planned throughout the day by students at their respective faculties were also cancelled.At Faculty of Management Studies, a condolence meeting was organized while students of Faculty of Family and Community Sciences had organised a candle march.Raising anti-Pakistan, anti-terrorist slogans, a group of students burnt effigy of Pakistan at Faculty of Arts. MSU officials condemned the cowardly attack on the paramilitary forces and held a condolence meeting at the senate hall to express solidarity and pay tribute to the martyred soldiers. MSU’s top brass observed two minutes silence during the meeting.Around 300 students from different faculties of MSU led by Rajasthani students of M M Hall took out a candle march from MSU pavillion to Maharana Pratap circle that ended with slogans of ‘Hindustan Zindabad’ and ‘Bharat mata ki Jai’ as well as national anthem.Outside the campus, programmes which were scheduled on Friday remained low key. The Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh (WRMS) and the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) which had organized three mega gatherings of railway employees observed silence and winded up the meetings without any customary floral welcomes and greetings.In minority-dominated Tandalja area, Muslims burnt an effigy of terrorism and demanded that Pakistan should be given a befitting response for the terror attack. Citizens of the old city area also held a tribute at Gandhinagar Gruh on Friday evening.
