Two more succumb to H1N1, death toll reaches 18

Vadodara: Two persons including a 62-year-old female resident of Padra taluka and a 75-year-old male from Ankhol village, succumbed to swine flu on Saturday taking the total death toll in Vadodara district to 18 since beginning of this year.The Padra resident who was admitted at GMERS Gotri Medical College succumbed at around 12.15 pm while the resident of Ankhol village passed away at around 6.40 am on Saturday morning at a private hospital.Samples of as many as 18 patients also tested positive of H1N1 virus. Of the 18 who have tested positive, 11 are residents of areas falling within the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits, four are from rural areas of Vadodara district, two are from Bharuch while one of them hails from neighbouring Chhota Udepur district.The new cases within the VMC limits have been reported from Karelibaug, Subhanpura, Ektanagar, Atladara, Ramdevnagar, Kishanvadi, Manjalpur, Makarpura, Warasiya and Navayard areas.In Vadodara rural, the new cases have been reported from Karjan, Padra, Waghodiya and Savli talukas. The two cases of Bharuch have been reported from Amod and Bharuch town.Those who have tested positive include two three-year-old children and an eight-month old infant.With the 11 new cases, the total number of swine flu positive cases registered within the VMC limits since January 1 has reached 189 out of which 124 have been cured, 52 are under treatment while 12 have died.In Vadodara rural, with the addition of new cases, the total number of swine flu positive cases has reached 36 of which 20 have been cured, ten are under treatment while six have died.
