Vadodara: A businessman staying on Waghodia Road was threatened by an unidentified person who sought to extort Rs 25 lakh from him. The accused threatened to kidnap the businessman’s son if he didn’t pay up the money. The detection of crime branch (DCB) has initiated investigations in the case and is expected to nab the accused soon.According to the police, the accused pasted a letter on the businessman’s bungalow gate on February 13. The accused, who typed the letter in English words with Hindi vocabulary, has threatened the complainant that his son will be killed if he doesn’t pay up. Interestingly, the accused in his letter also requests the businessman to give the money as he is in dire need.The letter further reads that the accused will return the money to the businessman till 2024 with one per cent interest. The accused also said in the letter that he didn’t want to kidnap the businessman’s son and then seek ransom. He tells the businessman to consider the ransom as an investment.“The accused also asked the businessman to not approach the police. He said in the letter that if the businessman approaches the cops, he will kill his son,” the police said.DCP (crime), Jaydeepsinh Jadeja said that they had laid a trap to nab the accused earlier but he didn’t turn up. “We have got the clues and the case will be cracked soon,” he added.
