Vadodara: Woman succumbs to H1N1, toll reaches 19

The two cases reported from rural areas are from Dabhoi and Padra towns of Vadodara district. VADODARA: A 62-year-old female resident of Gotri area of the city succumbed to swine flu on Tuesday taking the total death toll in Vadodara city and district to 19 from beginning of this year.The Gotri resident was admitted at a private hospital in Gorwa. On Tuesday, samples of nine other patients also tested positive of H1N1 virus.Of the nine who have tested positive, four are residents of areas that fall within the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), two hails from rural areas of Vadodara district, two patients are from neighbouring Chhota Udepur district while one patient is a resident of Ankleshwar town of Bharuch district.The fresh cases of swine flu in VMC areas have been reported from Ramdevnagar, Kapurai, Navapura and Tarsali. The cases from Chhota Udepur have been reported from Tejgadh and Bodeli.With four new cases, the total number of swine flu positive cases reported within VMC limits from January 1 has touched 215 of which 146 patients have been cured, 56 patients are currently under treatment while 13 patients have passed away.In Vadodara rural, with the addition of two new cases, the total number of swine flu positive patients have reached 44 of which 21 patients have been cured, 17 are currently under treatment while six have died.In Chhota Udepur district, the total number of swine flu positive cases reported so far has reached 14 of which six patients have been cured, seven are under treatment while one has died since January 1.
