Overloaded autos under lens

Vadodara: After two students lost their lives while travelling in overloaded six-seater auto rickshaws within a fortnight, the traffic police begun a crackdown on these auto drivers. Tadvi lost her balance and fell down. The traffic police have seized their vehicles that will be released only after they pay their fines. Rathod received severe injuries in the accident.The other victim is a 16-year-old girl Renuka Tadvi, who died on February 27, while she tried to get off an auto near Waghodia Crossroads. “We will conduct a drive against these six-seater autos which often overload passengers.

Vadodara: After two students lost their lives while travelling in overloaded six-seater auto rickshaws within a fortnight, the traffic police begun a crackdown on these auto drivers. Majority of such six-seater autos operate in eastern parts of the city or near the highway.On Thursday, 33 auto drivers were caught for overloading passengers in their vehicles and without proper documents too. The traffic police have seized their vehicles that will be released only after they pay their fines. “We will conduct a drive against these six-seater autos which often overload passengers. It is dangerous not just for the passengers but also for commuters passing by,” said Amita Vanani, ACP (traffic).Six teams have been formed to keep an eye in various areas like Vrundavan Crossroads, Uma Crossroads, Sardar Patel Estate Road, Waghodia Bridge, Mahavir Hall Crossroads and Suleimani Chawl Road.The students who lost their lives in the accidents include 19-year-old Mayurdhvajsinh Rathod who died on Tuesday evening after the auto that he was travelling in lost balance and turned turtle on Waghodia Road. Rathod received severe injuries in the accident.The other victim is a 16-year-old girl Renuka Tadvi, who died on February 27, while she tried to get off an auto near Waghodia Crossroads. Tadvi lost her balance and fell down. A truck passing by ran over her killing her on the spot.
