Vadodara: A 78-year-old woman was robbed of her jewellery when she tried to guide a couple to an address on Waghodiya Road on Saturday morning. However, the elderly woman was lucky as her jewellery were not real. The victim Shanta Gamecha, who lives in Chimanlal Park, was on her way to a nearby temple when a couple commuting in a car approached her seeking an address. Gamecha offered to sit in their car to guide them to the address, to which the couple agreed. While travelling, the couple asked her to remove her jewellery.After Gamecha removed the jewellery and handed over to the couple, they dropped her near a temple and handed over Rs 100 to the senior citizen so that she could reach home, where she informed her family members who alerted the police. When police officials reached Gamecha’s house, her family members refused to lodge a complaint. “The victim’s family members refused to lodge a complaint as the jewellery was not made of gold and it had little value. The woman also told us that the couple did not use any force with her,” said inspector R S Bariya of Panigate police station.Cops said although the victim refused to file a complaint, they are conducting probe into the incident so that the couple does not rob any other persons in future.
