Statue of Unity & Konark Sun Temple included in `Iconic Sites` list

According to the Union tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel (age 59 years), the government is including the Konark Sun Temple and Statue of Unity to the list of monuments that will be developed as `Iconic Sites` in India.

- The Statue of Unity is a colossal statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, that located at the Narmada District of Gujarat state in India. It is designed by Ram V. Sutar.
- Statue of Unity was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 143rd birth anniversary of Patel on 31st October 2018.

A total of 17 iconic tourist sites were identified by the government of India in 2019. It includes- Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri (Uttar Pradesh), Ajanta and Ellora (Maharashtra), Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort and Qutub Minar (Delhi), Colva (Goa), Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Somnath and Dholavira (Gujarat), Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh), Hampi (Karnataka), Mahabalipuram (Tamil Nadu), Kaziranga (Assam), Kumarakom (Kerala) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).
