Gujarat man thrashes dog, ties it to scooter, drags it for 500 metres

Vadodara: A Vadodara resident mercilessly thrashed a dog and dragged it for 500 metres before dumping it on the roadside. After a complaint lodged by an animal rights activist, the Gujarat man was arrested.

Vadodara: A Vadodara resident mercilessly thrashed a dog and dragged it for 500 metres before dumping it on the roadside. After a complaint lodged by an animal rights activist, the Gujarat man was arrested.

According to a report in The Times of India, the accused man has been identified as Ejaz Sheikh, who seems to have a learning disability and is in his 20s. He was arrested from his home following the complaint. On Thursday night, the locals reported an injured dog lying near the Ward 8 office. The dog was found with severe injuries on its head and other body parts and was rushed to the hospital. The dog’s teeth were also found broken.

Eyewitnesses said that Sheikh first thrashed the dog and then tied it with a belt and kept hitting it with a rod. Then the accused tied the dog to his scooter and dragged it for 500 metres before dumping the canine by the roadside. Police have booked the accused for animal cruelty under the Animal Welfare Act.
