Bogus doctor practising for 20 years arrested

According to the police, Roy, a native of West Bengal, had shifted to the city about 20 years ago. He was a student of arts and then completed a certificate course in Ayurveda.

The prevention of crime branch (PCB) on Friday arrested a 47-year-old man for practicing medicine without any medical degree. PCB sleuths received a tip-off that accused Sushant Kumar Roy was giving allopathic medicines in Nandesari-GIDC area without any medical degree and arrested him.

According to the police, Roy, a native of West Bengal, had shifted to the city about 20 years ago. He was a student of arts and then completed a certificate course in Ayurveda. “Roy then started his own clinic in Nandesari and began practising allopathy though he didn’t have a medical degree. He used to see patients, prescribe medicines and even administer injections,” cops said.

While cops are determining if any other person is involved in the crime, Nandesari police will also inquire if any of his patients suffered had adverse effects after taking medicines.
