Around 400 qualify from Vadodara city

Vadodara: Around 400 students from the city qualified for the JEE (advanced) to get entry into the prestigious Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs), the National Institutes of Technologies (NITs) and other centrally-funded technical institutes. "In all, 281 students who prepared for the examinations with us have qualified for JEE (advanced). Ghetia has also qualified for Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and ranked 131 in the country for its examinations.TNN The cut off for the common rank list this year was 81 marks, while that for Other Backward Classes was 49 marks. The number of students who qualified for the examinations is nearly equal to those last year.With the results being announced by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for JEE (main) on Thursday, students who qualified began preparing for JEE (advanced) examinations.

"In all, 281 students who prepared for the examinations with us have qualified for JEE (advanced). The cut off for the common rank list this year was 81 marks, while that for Other Backward Classes was 49 marks. The cut off for Scheduled Caste candidates was 32, and for Scheduled Tribe candidates it was 27," said S R Mishra from IIT Ashram, Vadodara.Jay Paranjape, who stood 129 in the all-India ranking (AIR) scoring 315 marks, said he was confident about the JEE (advanced) examinations. "I want to study computer science at IIT, Mumbai," he said, adding that building a strategy to take the examinations and working on one's strengths was important for success.Jitesh Joshi from FIIT-JEE, Vadodara said in all 105 students had qualified from his centre. "These include 103 in the general category," he said.Siddharth Ghetia, who got AIR 390, said he was eyeing to join the computer engineering programme at IIT, Mumbai. "But for some slips I made while marking the OMR sheet, I could have done better," he said. Ghetia has also qualified for Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana and ranked 131 in the country for its examinations.TNN
