Vadodara: Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of holy Ramzan month, was celebrated with joy and religious ardour by Muslims across the city on Monday.Muslims came out early in the morning to offer the special Eid prayers at different mosques. City police and para-military forces, retained after the Rath Yatra, kept a vigil in the old city areas to avoid any communal tensions. With the end of solemn prayers, people greeted each other with an embrace in mosques. Small children too were seen embracing each other wishing their friends for Eid.People, dressed in their fineries, also shopped in the markets that had come up for Ramzan. Special Eid dishes like 'Sevaiyaan' and 'Samosas' were also gorged on, not only by Muslims but by people of other religions at the homes of their Muslim friends.In the evening, parents took their children to fair held at Pradarshan Maidan on Rajmahal Road.
