Villagers clash with Bhilistan sena members near Karjan

They also damaged his car and other vehicles.The violence aggravated and members of both groups started pelting stones at each other, which left many other cars in the village also damaged. "We had to call some state reserve police force (SRP) men who were already stationed in Karjan for the festivities," said Karjan police sub-inspector J Y Chauhan. On receiving the call about the violence, police reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.

VADODARA: Six persons were injured and several vehicles damaged when the meeting of Bhilistan Tiger Sena (BTS) turned violent in Sagdol village of Karjan taluka on Sunday night.Police said that BTS had held a meeting in the village to chalk out details of the upcoming rally in Karjan. After the meeting ended, its members started raising slogans which irked some locals who rushed to the meeting venue. After heated altercation, two groups clashed with each other and some members of BTS targeted the house of village's sarpanch. They also damaged his car and other vehicles.The violence aggravated and members of both groups started pelting stones at each other, which left many other cars in the village also damaged. Two members of BTS and four locals were injured due to stone pelting and assaulting with wooden sticks.Police received cross complaints of rioting but no arrests have been made yet. Cops said that both groups have claimed that the other one attacked first and then they retaliated. "On Monday, we took statements of some villagers who were not involved in clash and after some clarity arrests will be made," said Chauhan.On Monday, police had beefed up security in the village to avert any escalation of tension. BTS is an outfit backed by Janata Dal (United) leader and MLA Chhotu Vasava, and has been fighting for rights of tribals since many years.
