Vadodara: The state-level celebrations of 71st Independence Day kicked off in the city on Monday with inaugurations of several projects by chief minister Vijay Rupani throughout the day.Rupani inaugurated the newly built Harni police station near Bhidbhanjan Hanuman Temple. The police station is the first 'next-generation police station' of the city. He also met the artists who are involved in designing and making the sculptures which adorn different traffic junctions at the new sculpture park in Harni.Later, the CM inaugurated several projects of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) at the Sama Sports Complex including the tallest flag mast of the state which has been erected by the civic body at Sama pond. Rupani also flagged-off new city buses under the Smart City project. The buses will have modern facilities like wi fi connections, smart ticketing system among others. The bus project will be started at the cost of Rs 55 crore.He also flew to Savli for a Mahila Sammelan where 4,000 women from Vadodara district were given new gas connections.
