VARANASI: The police on Thursday arrested a woman in Adalhat area in Mirzapur district for killing her infant daughter, whose body was found in a well on June 2. She was booked under section 302 of IPC. The woman confessed to her crime.According to reports, the body of an infant girl was found in a well in Daulatabad locality of Adalhaat area on June 2. Later, she was identified as Naina, daughter of Ramasare Patel, a brick kiln worker and resident of Mahuabari village . Ramasare lodged an FIR against his wife Sunita under section 302 (murder) of IPC on Wednesday.Acting on a tip off the police arrested Sunita when she was planning to move Varanasi on Thursday. During interrogation, she confessed that she threw her daughter into the well to live with her first husband. Sunita confided that Ramasare is her second husband after she left her first husband Virendra Patel, resident of Phoolpur area of Varanasi. But, she was still in contact with her first husband, and wanted to live with him. On June 1 she told Ramasre that she was going to meet her aunt at Mangari village. But instead of going to Mangari she went to Daulatabad and threw her daughter into the well situated near a brick kiln. Later, she returned home after two-days. When Ramasre asked about the daughter, Sunita told him that she left her with the aunt.Ramasre did not believe her and reported the matter to police. Adalhat SO Brijesh Singh said that the woman was arrested and sent to jail.
