UP MLA to sue BJP Uttar Pradesh chief for chor remark

VARANASI: A day after state BJP UP president Mahendra Nath Pandey called SBSP MLA from Ajgara Kailash Sonekar a ' chor' (thief), the latter said on Wednesday he will file a defamation case against Pandey for the derogatory remark. SBSP state vice-president Nityanand Pandey termed Pandey a 'scamster' and asked him to tender an apology. "Pandey insulted me by calling me a ' chor' (thief) because I am a Dalit and poor. I have decided to file a defamation case against him for making derogatory remarks against me," Sonekar told reporters at a press meet jointly held with Pandey.The BJP leader had termed Sonekar ' chor' at a function held in presence of deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Tuesday at a college in Palahipatti of Ajgara (Reserved) assembly area. Sonekar also denied having taken up the issue with SBSP chief and UP minister Om Prakash Rajbhar."I respect Pandey (state BJP chief) as he is a knowledgeable person. When SBSP fielded me on its ticket from Ajgara, the BJP state chief conspired to have me defeated by fielding a dummy candidate," Sonekar said.Sonekar alleged that Pandey's associates had tried to grab the land of his relatives. "When we opposed, they conspired to defame me by alleging that I have committed fraud in subsidised loan scheme of weavers to make money," he said.
