VARANASI: As chief minister Yogi Adityanath , on Tuesday evening in Lucknow, said that the rescued inmates from Deoria shelter home would be sent to Varanasi, the local authorities have geared up to accommodate them at the government-run aftercare home in the city. However, they are yet to receive any official intimation.“Presently, 94 inmates are staying in the aftercare home located in Jaitpura locality,” said district probation officer Pravin Kumar Tripathi. Jaitpura aftercare home, he added, has enough space to accommodate all rescued inmates.“Notably, like Deoria shelter home sex racket, Varanasi also witnessed a sex scandal in 2000 in which an FIR was lodged against the superintendent of Women Protection Home and others on May 24, 2000. The protection home was located in Shivpur area of the city. The police had chargesheeted 14 accused under Section of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act. Later, the matter was handed over to the CBI which after investigation gave clean chit to all accused. Now, the protection home has been converted into a women shelter home. But, there are no inmates in the shelter home since last two years,” said Tripathi.
