Two more parents of rescued girls show up

DEORIA: A day after a couple from Bihar showed up in Deoria, claiming to the parents of the whistleblower girl who blew the lid off the shelter home scandal, two more families appeared in the city on Thursday, claiming that their daughters were among the inmates rescued from the shelter home. According to her, the girl was sent to Girija's shelter home.After I admitted her, I was not allowed to meet her despite repeated efforts,” she told TOI. Later, she returned home.Similarly, a man from Khurwasia village of Bankata police station also reached Deoria in search of his daughter who had eloped and later rescued by police and sent to Girija’s shelter home over a month ago. Both, however, could not meet the girls.A 70-year-old woman of Khanti Bajar of Bhatani area reached Deoria on Thursday morning and said that she had brought her 27-year-old daughter to the shelter home after she was dumped by her husband few months after marriage as she was mentally challenged. On finding the shelter home sealed, he gave an application at Sadar Kotwali police station to know her whereabouts and returned home.Meanwhile, after the statement of rescued inmates of Girija Tripathi’s blacklisted shelter home was recorded by the court of ACJM-XIII Nasiha Wasim on Thursday afternoon, the probation department started process to shift them to shelter homes in Ballia, Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Varanasi.A three-member team of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) led by RG Anand met the rescued women and girls at bal grih (child home) for boys and termed that all the girls are normal and happy. State commission for Protection of Child’s rights member, Dr Preeti Verma said: “ Investigation is on and the report will be submitted soon.” “By the end of court hours on Wednesday, the statement of nine women and girls could be recorded while statement of remaining 13 was recorded on Thursday,” said district probation officer Prabhat Kumar.
