"Despite the tight schedule I got the chance to taste the Banarasi paan, and it was just amazing," said the actor excitedly. Nikhil, who hails from Chandigarh, gave up a cushioned job to take the plunge into acting. "After completing my MBA from Pune, I took up a job in a multinational company. But since acting was what I really wanted to do from the onset, I called it quits and finally tried my luck in acting. I gave nearly 1200 auditions, so it was not very easy. I also did some ads, some experimental shows and a film and finally now, Jijaji... happened. I am happy that the show has happened to me, its paying my bills for now. I guess it is good to earn some money for a change. As an actor, you never know when the show will click or when it will go off air. It could happen on the next day or take several episodes to be appreciated or it might not happen at all. Right now I am enjoying that space in which I am going to be more financially sound. I am ready for all possibilities that release me from all stress. I don’t stress on kal kya hoga, rather my mantra is jo hoga pata chal jayega," he says with a laugh.Nikhil Khurana (BCCL/ Arvind Kumar)Nikhil, who has appeared in shows like ' Pyar Tune Kya Kiya ' and ' Yeh Hai Aashiqui ' , says some people are lucky to get the opportunity they are looking for in acting, but mostly you have to adjust. "You can’t be choosy when you start, unless you are some star kid. Nepotism does exists in the industry, but it is okay. I don’t envy the star kids as it is god’s gift to them but at the same time I wish it was an equal platform. I wish people had a more open mind towards who comes from outside the Industry," he reasons. The actor, who worked in the Sonakshi Sinha starrer Noor , says, "It (the film), didn’t really work out since my role, which was really a good footage of 10-15 minutes appearance, was chopped to 4 minutes, but then the film also did not do that well. Despite all this, I am passionate about cinema. Films are always at the back of my mind, every waking hour of the day. I would like work with directors like Rajkumar Hirani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap someday."
