On his b'day, PM Modi advises kids to stay fit, improve knowledge

VARANASI: Speaking to the students of Naraur primary school of Rohaniya in Kashi Vidyapith block of the district on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advises them to to stay fit by running and taking part in sports.He also encouraged them to ask as many questions as they could to improve their knowledge. The students on the occasion presented the PM birthday cards made especially for him.When the PM entered the school at 5.45pm, the atmosphere echoed with "Welcome Sir". Also, a welcome song was rendered in his honour by three girl students, Moni, Neha and Rimjhim.Teachers said it was a lifetime experience for the children to host the PM on his 68th birthday. They were extremely happy to see him close and interact with him. They greeted him with birthday cards they had made for him, and also sang a welcome song on his arrival. The seating arrangement for the children was made in the school compound and chairs were placed in a row.Holding a mike in his hand, the PM went to them and spoke to them. According to the children, the PM first wished them Vishwakarma puja saying, "I came to your school today on the special day of Vishwakarma Jayanti. My greetings to everyone on this special day."He advised them never to be afraid to ask questions of anyone, as it is a key aspect of learning. "It is important to learn various skills. This will help you forever," Modi said calling upon them to give importance to sports."Jab maine Modi ji se puchha ki humse dosti karenge, toh unhone kaha hum to apke dost hi hain (When I asked Modi ji if he would become my friend, he said he is already our friend)," said Akanksha Patel of Kakrahiya village, who along with 25 other children from her village primary school had come to take part in the event.A girl from the PM's adopted Nageypur village, Moni asked him why he had not visited her village. To her innocent query, Modi said that he would try to make it at the earliest.He also inspected the 'Room to Read' library and smart class at the school. 'Room to reading' is a literacy programme that develops both literacy skills and reading habits among the children. In partnership with the government, it has set up libraries in 580 primary schools of Varanasi.After a 45-minute stay at the school, the PM moved to Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) guest house. Gift packets were distributed among the children after his departure.Earlier, Modi arrived at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Babatpur around 5pm where he was welcomed by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP state president Mahendra Nath Pandey and local MLAs.From the airport, he reached DLW sports ground by chopper and was accorded a warm welcome by a team of Anganwadi and ASHA workers, who thanked the PM for the benefits he recently announced for them. After a brief stay at DLW guest house, the PM moved to Naraur village.
