British tourist found dead in Varanasi guest house

The guest house staff immediately reported the matter to police. SSP Anand Kulkarni said that matter has been reported to British High Commission at New Delhi. The guest house staff informed police that on Sunday night he complaint of stomach pain when they asked him to get admitted to some hospital. VARANASI: A British tourist Kevin John (52) was found dead in a room of a guest house in Manikarnika Ghat area of Chowk police station on Monday morning.He had complaint of stomach pain on Sunday night but when guest house staff asked him to get admitted in some hospital he refused to go anywhere. On getting information many officials reached the guest house.

VARANASI: A British tourist Kevin John (52) was found dead in a room of a guest house in Manikarnika Ghat area of Chowk police station on Monday morning.He had complaint of stomach pain on Sunday night but when guest house staff asked him to get admitted in some hospital he refused to go anywhere. SSP Anand Kulkarni said that matter has been reported to British High Commission at New Delhi. The body has been preserved and further action like sending it for postmortem will be taken as per the directive of the British High Commission.According to foreigner regional registration office of local intelligence unit, Kevin had arrived India on July 30 and after travelling several places he reached Varanasi on September 18. He stayed at a guest house near Manikarnika Ghat with his American girlfriend. The guest house staff informed police that on Sunday night he complaint of stomach pain when they asked him to get admitted to some hospital. However, he refused their offer and stayed in his room.On Monday morning he was found dead on his bed while the doors of his room were lying open. The guest house staff immediately reported the matter to police. On getting information many officials reached the guest house. Officials said that after completing initial legal formalities the body was preserved as it will be sent for postmortem only after getting directive from British High Commission. Police said that postmortem report will clear the actual cause of death.
