GORAKHPUR: While conducting a raid to arrest a noted criminal, Mithun Paswan, police were attacked by Paswan and his aides at Rautinia village, falling under Chauri Chaura police station, in Gorakhpur on Sunday late night.Two constables, Shailendra and Vansh Narayan, and one sub-inspector, Ghanshyam Verma, sustained serious injuries during the attack. Verma and Shailendra were attacked with iron rod while Vansh Narayan was hit with a bullet in his abdomen.The injured policemen were taken to BRD Medical College. According to their medical report, Verma and Shailendra are stable. Doctors have said that Vansh Narayan will be operated to remove the bullet from his abdomen. Police have detained around half a dozen people for interrogation and are still searching for Mithun Paswan and his aides.Police raided Rautinia to arrest Paswan after getting a tip-off from an unknown source. As they entered Paswan's house, the criminal and his aides attacked the police team with iron rods, wooden rods and bulletsSSP Shalabh Mathur said," Police is searching for Mithun Paswan and his aides and they will soon be in custody. For now we have detained some people of the village for interrogation."
