Earlier, on April 9, 2018 farmers affected by land acquisition process for Transport Nagar project by Varanasi Development Authority had staged a similar protest by submitting blood-written letters to the PMO in support of their demand. They warned that in case of delay in fulfilling their demand they would march to district headquarters for a decisive war. Varanasi: Several farmers of Bairwan village wrote letters with their blood demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure their land is returned to them following failure in execution of Transport Nagar project even after 20 years of acquisition of their land, on Sunday.Gathered under the banner of UP Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress at Bairwan village, the farmers wrote the letters addressed to the PM.

They warned that in case of delay in fulfilling their demand they would march to district headquarters for a decisive war. Earlier, on April 9, 2018 farmers affected by land acquisition process for Transport Nagar project by Varanasi Development Authority had staged a similar protest by submitting blood-written letters to the PMO in support of their demand. Following this protest, the VDA left this matter to the state government for its final decision on the project, said VDA vice chairman Rajesh Kumar mentioning, the decision of the government is still awaited.According to the VDA records, the process for acquiring 86.219 hectares of land of 1,194 farmers of the four villages including Bairwan, Kanna Dadi, Milichak and Mohansarai was started in 2000 with the issuance of a notification by the land acquisition department.After final notification in 2001, the possession of the acquired land was given to the VDA on paper.
