20kg charas recovered in cabin wall of train toilet

Varanasi: The directorate of revenue intelligence sleuths from Varanasi field unit caught a consignment of 20 kg charas from general compartment of Delhi-bound Satyagrah Express at Pipraich railway in Gorakhpur district on Monday evening.According to DRI Varanasi unit in-charge Anand Rai, on a tip-off, he rushed a team to Gorakhpur district. He said that some gangs, which hide consignments of drugs by opening upper chambers of toilets in trains, are on the radar of DRI.This trick of drug smuggling ends possibility of nabbing of their carriers, he said adding that after packing consignments in trains the members of the gangs forward the bogie number to the persons, who receive it in Delhi or other cities.Six held with illicit liquor: The police caught six members of an inter-state gang of liquor smugglers and recovered illicit liquor worth Rs 26.35 lakh from a truck and a car on National Highway-2 in industrial area of Chandauli district on Tuesday.According to Chandauli SP Santosh Singh, acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by the crime branch and police to nab the smugglers.Ajay Singh of Bihar, Jaigu and Sunder of Haryana, Yogendra of UP, Amandeep Singh and Ganga of Punjab were arrested with the liquor consignment.
