Varanasi: Come February 19 and this millennia old city will achieve a major goal in the direction of becoming smart city with the inauguration of Kashi (Integrated) Command and Control Centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Talking to TOI on Thursday, municipal commissioner Nitin Bansal said that KCCC- the flagship project under pan city initiative- is ready to become operational after inauguration by the PM. “The KCCC will enable close monitoring of all activities, public services and facilities including city’s traffic, street sweeping, collection and transportation of solid waste from the command and control room established near Varanasi Municipal Corporation’s main building”, said Bansal.During his stay in the city on February 8, chief minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the KCCC while reviewing progress in projects to be inaugurated by the PM on November 19.Providing details of the smart traffic management to be done through KCCC, Bansal said that apart from traffic signal management, Advanced Photo System type-C (APCS), Red Light Violation Detection (RLBD) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras have already been placed at 87 points. Besides, he said, 332 fixed box, 100 PTZ and 21 multi-sensor cameras have been installed. All the monitoring will be done at 30 workstations equipped with video walls. With the opening of it, he said, action like challan of vehicles violating traffic signal or lane will be done remotely.Other modern equipment to monitor street sweeping, collection and transportation of solid waste 2,100 RFID reader, 1,118 bin censors, 21 surveillance cameras, 21 foul smell detection sensors and 50 environment censor to monitor air quality index have also been placed. Bansal said that real time monitoring of all activities of sanitary work including work of sanitary staff, street sweeping, dumping of garbage will become possible while clearing solid waste bins and their transportation will be monitored through GPS.Public address system at 55 points, 11 digital display unit, 11 entry-exit boom barriers and 1000 smart light fixture are also the part of this KCCC, which has 13 variable message display network connectivity with GIS platform.Through its mobile app, the KCCC will provide information on basic facilities like points of public toilets, parking, heritage site and street lighting system. The components of e-governance had also been included in it.
