Hearing of Shringar Gauri petition today

Varanasi: Court of district judge will hear on Wednesday the plea seeking transfer of a fresh suit filed by head priest of Acharya Ved Vyas Peeth temple Shailendra Kumar Pathak Vyas, which was filed on Monday, before civil judge senior division court seeking worship of Shringar Gauri and other visible and invisible deities in the cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque and appointment of district magistrate or any other suitable persons as receiver of the cellar on the southern side of the building.Vyass lawyer Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi said lawyers abstained from legal work to condole death of a fellow advocate, following which, court fixed Wednesday as next date for hearing of the plea.Earlier, on Monday, Vyas had moved the said plea through Chaturvedi before the court of civil judge senior division. Only after few minutes of filing of suit by Chaturvedi, Vyass other lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain filed an application before the court of district judge to direct for transfer of the suit to his court, in the interest of justice. Chaturvedi said that following these developments on Monday, the court of district judge fixed Tuesday (September 26) for hearing on this application.Making Anjuman Intezamia Masajid, the Gyanvapi mosque management committee, the defendant, Vyas filed this suit before the civil judge senior division, mentioning that worship of deities was performed within cellar of the southern side of the building, but after 1993 his ancestor and priest Vyasji was restrained from entering the barricaded area and thus, holding rituals and other ceremonies stopped. Earlier, the court had expressed concern about the pending list of judge transfers with the Centre.All courts work suspended to mourn judge deathJustice Kailash Prasad Deo of the Jharkhand High Court passed away after a prolonged illness. His body was brought to the high court for people to pay their respects, and he was laid to rest with full state honors. Justice Deo was known for his righteousness and passing important judgments, one of which required the police to record and tabulate illegal arms recovered from miscreants. The high court and subordinate judiciary in the state suspended all judicial work as a mark of respect. Justice Deo was highly regarded for his expertise in criminal matters and his willingness to help junior advocates.
