Nine held for‘convertingpeople toChristianity’

Varanasi: The Sonbhadra police arrested nine persons at Patwadh village in Chopan police station area on Thursday evening for their involvement in converting people into Christianity. A large number of books and propaganda materials related to the religion was recovered from them.According to reports, the culprits persons used to persuade people to convert to accept Christianity by organizing healing meetings, taking advantage of their financial status on various occasions, distributing money, goods and other necessary materials.The arrested persons have been identified as Jay Prabhu of Tamil Nadu, Chekka Emanuel of Andhra Pradesh, Ajay Kumar, Rajendra Kol, Chhotu alias Ranjan, Parmanand, Sohan alias Ranjeet, Premnath Prajapati and Ram Pratap, all natives of Sonbhadra district.Sonbhadra ASP (headquarters) Kaloo Singh told TOI that the nine have been booked under section 3/5 (1) of Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance.
