VARANASI: It was perhaps one of the finest 'Eidi' (gift of Eid) wrapped with emotions for Shabana , a 20-year-old girl who lost her parents in her childhood. It was an overwhelming moment for her when she received the gift on the eve of Eid just after the moon was sighted on Sunday evening.The Eid gift pack did not come from any of her relative or well wisher, but sent by the district magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra to her resident. "It is really unbelievable to me that my request will get such a surprising and nice response. I am out of words to express my feelings and convey my gratitude to the DM ," an elated Shabana told to TOI.The poor girl lost her parents in 2004, when she was just 7. She lives with the 70-year-old maternal grand mother and 12-year-old younger brother in Manduadih locality in Kashi Vidyapith block. She had to discontinue her study due to financial constraints and work in a jewellers shop to earn living. "But, I lost the job, as I suffered from Dengue for a long time," she said adding that her brother is also out of school due to financial crisis.On Sunday she texted to the mobile number of DM requesting some help for the Eid festival. Her message reads, "DM Sir Namste mera Nam Shabana h. Mujhe aapki thodi si help ki jarurat h. Sir sabse bada tyuhar Eid h. Sab log nye kapde pahange lekin hamare priwar me kisi ka bhi kapda nhi aaya h.sir mere Mata -Pita nhi h. 2004 Me Expire ho chuke h.mer e ghar me main aor meri nani or chhoota bhai .sir mujhe samjh nhi aa rha h kisse madd magu. Isliye aapse mag rhi hu. Plz meri madd kar dijiye DM sir plz).To her surprise,the message worked and by the evening she received the gift pack containing new salwar suit for her, sari for her grand mother and jeans T-shirt for her brother, and sweets. The DM asked the SDM Sushil Kumar Gaud to give the gift to Shabana personally."We are extremely happy with this generous gift, and we are thankful to the DM for extending his helping hand to make us happy and celebrate Eid," said Shabana.
