Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set for a two-day visit to his Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency and will be inaugrating several infrastructure projects including the Ramnagar-Samne Ghat bridge and the Balua Ghat bridge.PM Modi will be dedicating the two prominent overbridges over Ganga to the people of Varanasi, which was also the dream project of Samajwadi Party Foundation stone of Balua Ghat bridge that would connect Chandauli and Samne Ghat bridge was laid by then Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in 2005. Both the projects were to be completed by Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation.After work on both the bridges for two years, it lost pace following Mayawati forming the government. The work on two bridges didn't move much between 2007 and 2012. However, when Akhilesh Yadav came to power, the work on the two bridges was again expedited. Akhilesh had even reviewed its progress had fixed October, 2015 as the deadline for the completion of Balua Ghat bridge.However the bridge could not be completed by 2017 and Yogi government then expedited the leftover work and got it completed in six months.Reacting to the development, SP City president Rajkumar Jaiswal said that it has become a habit of BJP leaders to take credit for the work which they neither started nor they contributed much. They should be clear as people are, he concluded.Interestingly, unlike during the inauguration of LMRC, no invitation had been sent to either Mulayam Singh Yadav or his son Akhilesh Yadav, sources in administration said. LMRC had sent an invitation to former CM Akhilesh Yadav, however, he didn't come.While the Blua Ghat overbridge is worth Rs 87.47 crore, Samne Ghat overbridge has come up at a cost of Rs 84.74 crore.
