Two suspects of 2013 Patna blasts detained in UP's Mirzapur

Just before the Patna serial blasts the agencies had confirmed the presence of Tahseen Akhtar alias Monu for recce, after this suspected terror module's involvement had come to light in Bodh Gaya serial blasts. VARANASI: With the help of MIrzapur police the UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) picked up two suspects of October 27, 2013 Patna serial blasts from Katra Kotwali area of Mirzapur district on Monday evening. Anil had supplied explosives to other arrested persons for preparing pipe bombs. Kamalu is the brother of Fakhruddin Ali , who was arrested for having connection with Patna blast. It was said that one more person of this district was also on the radar of NIA in this connection.

VARANASI: With the help of MIrzapur police the UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) picked up two suspects of October 27, 2013 Patna serial blasts from Katra Kotwali area of Mirzapur district on Monday evening. Katra Kotwali police told TOI over phone that two persons identified as Kamalu and his nephew Sachchu are being interrogated after they were caught with over 2.5kg gun powder used in making crackers. They had no license for fireworks trading. Kamalu is the brother of Fakhruddin Ali , who was arrested for having connection with Patna blast. Kamalu had been on the radar of agencies like ATS since then.In view of the expected visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Varanasi on September 22 and 23, the police are in high alert mode in this region. The protocol office in Varanasi received the information regarding SPG arrival on September 19.Earlier in February 2014, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested four persons from Mirzapur and Allahabad including Fakruddin Ali and Mohd Ahmed of Imambada under Katra Kotwali police station Mohd Raju of Barkachha under Dehat Kotwali police station of Mirzapur district and Anil Pandey of Manda in Allahabad district.They were arrested for supplying pipe bombs to the Indian Mujahidin terror modules to explode during the rally of Modi, the then BJP's prime ministerial candidate, at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on October 27.Sources had confided that Fakruddin Ali and Mohammed Ahmed had also provided shelter to a suspected terror module during his stay in Mirzapur. Anil had supplied explosives to other arrested persons for preparing pipe bombs. It was said that one more person of this district was also on the radar of NIA in this connection. The sources said that the links of Patna blast started establishing when the transfer of money from Ranchi based bank accounts of terror modules to the bank accounts of Fakruddin and Ahmed came to light.It was also confirmed that the bombs used in serial blasts at Patna matched the nature of bomb recovered from a Varanasi bound passenger bus at Chunar (Mirzapur) on February 10, 2013.
