VARANASI: Members of the Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Kalyan Parishad (ABKKP) on Saturday carried out a procession and burnt a symbolic effigy of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for his criticism of the country's 'so-called valorous maharajas'.They also tried to stop the district magistrate's car but were restrained by the police. The ABKKP members carried out a procession and reached the district headquarters in the afternoon and staged a protest against Tharoor's remarks on erstwhile maharajas amid the ongoing row over 'Padmavati'.On November 16, Tharoor had accused India's erstwhile kings of being "less concerned about their honour when the British were trampling all over it, but today going after a Mumbai filmmaker because their honour is at stake".Tharoor, however, backtracked a day later, claiming that he had not meant to disparage the Rajput community as a whole.During their protest, the ABKKP also tried to enter the collectorate premises but were stopped by police.
