Eight from Vellore die as truck skids in Andhra Pradesh

While six workers died on the spot, two others were declared dead at Vaniyambadi government hospital.Revenue department staff and police officers of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu say the death toll could rise as all the 26 workers suffered grievous injuries. The deceased and the injured could not be identified immediately. VELLORE: Eight farm workers, including five women, died after the truck in which they were travelling rolled down a slope on Kangundi Hill Road in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.Around 26 workers from Natrampalli, Puthur and Kallarasampatti villages in Vellore district were returning from Kuppam in AP after loading mangoes when, around 9.30pm, the driver braked suddenly and lost control.
