Probe ordered into alleged torture of CISF constable

Krishna District Joint Collector Vijaya Krishnan on Monday ordered an inquiry into the alleged physical torture and illegal detention of a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable. CISF higher-ups informed“We have informed about the alleged criminal offence committed by Nagaprasad Babu to the Mangalore-based higher authorities of the CISF. On Monday, Ms. Ammulu, accompanied by Dalit leaders, submitted a written complaint to Additional Superintendent of Police S. Sai Krishna, seeking a fair probe.

According to Superintendent of Police Sarvasresth Tripathy, Dasari Nagaprasad Babu, a CISF Constable, was arrested on June 13 on charge of assaulting a Circle Inspector physically during the Machilipatnam beach festival on June 11. Complaint lodged Contrary to the police statement, Dasari Ammulu, wife of the accused Nagaprasad Babu, on Monday lodged a complaint with the district collector, alleging that her husband had been subjected to severe physical torture by the police since the June 11 midnight. RDO to investigate “I have been asked by the Collector to probe into the case,” Bandar Revenue Divisional Officer Mr. Uday Bhaskar told The Hindu. On Monday, Ms. Ammulu, accompanied by Dalit leaders, submitted a written complaint to Additional Superintendent of Police S. Sai Krishna, seeking a fair probe. Nagaprasad Babu, who was released on bail on June 14, along with two other persons from Malleswaram village in Krishna district, were arrested by the police on charge of assaulting the Circle Inspector on duty and creating nuisance during the beach festival. CISF higher-ups informed “We have informed about the alleged criminal offence committed by Nagaprasad Babu to the Mangalore-based higher authorities of the CISF. Nagaprasad Babu is presently posted at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited,” Mr. Sai Krishna said.
