Former TV anchor commits suicide over marital discord

Vijayawada: Former television anchor M Tejaswini committed suicide at her home at Edupugallu under Kankipadu mandal in Krishna district on Monday evening reportedly due to marital discord. On June 14, Pavan went on a business trip. Tejaswini used to work as a newsreader for a Vijayawada-based local TV channel.Tejaswini (25) ended her life by hanging herself on Sunday. at her homeShe married Pavan Kumar five years back against the wishes of her parents and went to Dubai. A case was registered against Pavan under Section 498 A and 306 of IPC and an investigation is on.

However, after their families consented to their marriage, they returned and began living in Bhimavaram for two years. Pavan found a job with a private company while Tejaswini started working as an anchor in the city.They later shifted to Eedupugalu after Pavan got a job at Vuyyuru in a finance company. The couple also had a daughter, after which Pavan’s mother came to live with them. On June 14, Pavan went on a business trip. It was learnt that their marriage was going through a rough patch as they were having frequent fights.On Sunday, Tejaswini reportedly had an argument with her mother-in-law and later went into her room and locked herself from isnide. After she did not come out till evening, her mother-in-law alerted neighbours who broke open the door to find her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to Vijayawada government hospital where she was declared dead by doctors.Kankipadu sub-inspector M Shariff later retrieved a suicide note from the house in which Tejaswini had written of her suspicions that her husband might be having an affair. She also said she was being harassed. A case was registered against Pavan under Section 498 A and 306 of IPC and an investigation is on.
