All that the students need to do is to scan the codes using ‘Deeksha’ application installed on their smart phones. However, many city students and teachers are yet to see the energized textbooks and many city schools will receive them in the next week, according to officials.“I haven’t seen the new textbooks yet and am waiting to see them,” said R Ganesh, a mathematics teacher at a municipal school. Some of the content is prepared by AP teachers. This content will also help teachers as a reference material to present to students. The students can take the benefit of videos to understand the concepts in depth, Ramesh said.

Vijayawada: As part of using technology in education, the AP Government has introduced QR codes under important concepts and chapters in this year’s textbooks, allowing students of classes 6 to 10 to see the chapter details using their cell phones and laptops. However, many city students and teachers are yet to see the energized textbooks and many city schools will receive them in the next week, according to officials.“I haven’t seen the new textbooks yet and am waiting to see them,” said R Ganesh, a mathematics teacher at a municipal school. He said a few of his class students are excited to see the textbooks, and many are yet to know about them.About 50 per cent schools are yet to receive the textbooks, said TVS Ramesh, faculty at AP State Council of Educational Research and Training (APSCERT). QR codes are the part of content enrichment program, he said. The program helps the interested students to dive deep into the concepts that are hard to accommodate in the limited space allowed in the textbooks, he said, and added that the information can be used based on the pace of the students. The codes are present wherever there are important concepts in the textbooks. All that the students need to do is to scan the codes using ‘Deeksha’ application installed on their smart phones. Deeksha is the name of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) program. The students will instantly get connected to the content related to the concept. The database contains all sorts of content, including audio, video and PDF files. The students can take the benefit of videos to understand the concepts in depth, Ramesh said. Some of the content is prepared by AP teachers. This content will also help teachers as a reference material to present to students. Videos can be used where lab facilities are not available for students, he added.
