Andhra Pradesh Truck operators to go on strike from July 20

The prices of the petrol and diesel were different in different states causing huge loss to the truck operators. VIJAYAWADA: The All India Motor Transport Congress had given a call to its members across the country to go on indefinite strike from July 20. Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association general secretary Y V Eswara Rao , announced the support to the proposed national strike. He also complained against the increasing harassment of the truck drivers and operators on the road by the police, and transport departments. At a meeting here on Thursday, the truck operators of Andhra Pradesh decided to join the national strike call given by the All India Motor Congress Eswara Rao said that they have been asking the Central government to bring down the diesel and petrol prices and should have uniform price across the country.

Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association general secretary Y V Eswara Rao , announced the support to the proposed national strike. At a meeting here on Thursday, the truck operators of Andhra Pradesh decided to join the national strike call given by the All India Motor Congress Eswara Rao said that they have been asking the Central government to bring down the diesel and petrol prices and should have uniform price across the country. The prices of the petrol and diesel were different in different states causing huge loss to the truck operators. He also protested against the toll gates across the country. He said some of the toll plazas were continuing even after their term and demanded that they be closed.He said that they have been asking the government for all India permit to be issued to all the tourist vehicles operated in the country. He also complained against the increasing harassment of the truck drivers and operators on the road by the police, and transport departments. The corruption was high and the trucks are stopped on the roads at the whims and fancies of the police and transport officials.He said that the All India Motor Congress representatives have given a charter of demands to the Union Government seeking early settlement. As the government failed to respond, he said that they would go on indefinite strike from 6 am of July 20.Eswara Rao appealed to the truck operators in the State to keep their trucks off the roads from the day and ensure that their demands are addressed.
