Dwaraka Tirumala Rao assumed office as new Commissioner of Police on Thursday. He took charge from in-charge commissioner T.K. Rana. Deputy Commissioners of Police J. Brahma Reddy, Ghajarao Bjupal, Sharin Begum, Nawab Jaan, Assistant Commissioners and other officers greeted Mr. Rao. He performed special pujas and interacted with the ACPs, Station House Officers (SHOs) and SIs after taking charge. Speaking to the newsmen later, the Police Commissioner said that focus would be laid on sensitising people about cyber and economic offences and measures to prevent crime against women and children. “I am happy to take over as City Police Commissioner and am ready to face the challenges. My priority is to be available to the public right from commissioner rank officer to police constable level and render better services to the needy,” he said. The city police would take suggestions from the public and make them part in solving the problems, Mr. Rao said adding that traffic was an another issue on which attention would be paid. Besides, land issues, call money and other issues which are haunting the people would be dealt seriously, the new Police Commissioner said.
