Andhra Pradesh Srisailam gets first inflows for season

KURNOOL: The Srisailam reservoir received its first inflow of water on Saturday for the present kariff season . The water levels at Almatti reservoir reached 1701.90 feet against its FRL of 1705 ft. The Jurala in the upstream of Srisailam is also receiving inflows of 2 lakh cusecs and discharging 1.92 lakh cusecs from Saturday evening. The water level here is at 1044.32 against its FRL of 1045 ft. The reservoir received 1,64,554 cusecs of water on the first day.At 6pm on Saturday, the water level at Srisailam reservoir stood at 826.30 ft against the full reservoir level (FRL) of 885 ft. With the 1.64 lakh cusecs of inflows, the reservoir now has 45.90 tmcft of water against its capacity of 215.80 tmcft.

With the 1.64 lakh cusecs of inflows, the reservoir now has 45.90 tmcft of water against its capacity of 215.80 tmcft. However, the Central Water Commission is forecasting an inflow of 2,01,290 cusecs of water to the Srisailam reservoir as the forecast to Jurala, Narayanapur and Almatti too shows higher increase of inflows this time.The Narayanapur reservoir is expected an inflow of 1,83,633 cusecs of water while Almatti is anticipated to receive an inflow of 1,87,164. As both Narayanpur and Almatti have almost full water touching their FRL, the officials at Srisailam expect the same to be discharged by the Karnataka.The inflows are mostly from Almatti, Narayanapur, Jurala and Thungabha rivers from the upstream. The water levels at Almatti reservoir reached 1701.90 feet against its FRL of 1705 ft. The reservoir had received 1,73,923 cusecs, which is directly being discharged to the downstream.At Narayanapur, the inflows of 1,87,140 cusecs of water had put the reservoir level at 1611.75 ft against its FRL of 1615 ft. The officials here are discharging 1,85,443 cusecs to the downstream. The Jurala in the upstream of Srisailam is also receiving inflows of 2 lakh cusecs and discharging 1.92 lakh cusecs from Saturday evening. The water level here is at 1044.32 against its FRL of 1045 ft.
