Tight security for Ganesh immersion procession

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) and the police are making foolproof security arrangements for Vinayaka nimajjanam at Seetammavari Padalu on the banks of River Krishna on the ninth day of the Ganesh Navarathri Utsavams. Devotees are requested to cooperate with the police for peaceful conduct of the process, the police appealed.

The police gave permission for installing more than 1,600 idols this year. Besides, idols from Kanchikacherla, Vijayawada rural, Nandigama, Jaggaiahpet, Tadepalli and other mandals will come for immersion. Officials arranged cranes, earth moving machines and tippers. Commissioner J. Nivas, who inspected the ghats, directed the officials to lay approach roads, arrange electrification, expert swimmers and drinking water facilities and depute sanitation staff at the ghats. More than 2,000 policemen including two constables for each idol en route will be deputed. The traffic police will take steps for smooth flow. Organisers of the mandapams should strictly follow the time and the route of the rally mentioned in the application forms and are requested not to use sticks or any lethal weapons.
