VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party MP CM Ramesh on Sunday alleged that IT sleuths, who conducted searches at his residence and companies, had warned him of serious consequences if he did not stop criticising the central government.Ramesh told mediapersons in Hyderabad that IT officials had threatened his employees during the search operation. He also named IT deputy director Madan, who he alleged had hinted that the searches were the result of criticising the Union government. "In the past, searches were conducted at my place. But this time it is not a routine search, it's politically motivated. I will take legal action and lodge a complaint with the central vigilance commission ," Ramesh said.He alleged that IT sleuths did not have the search warrant in his name. The warrant was in his wife's name. She is not a director in Ritwik company, which was searched. Ramesh further said that IT sleuths did not disclose any valid reason for their searches. They came with false information. He said the searches were conducted in the company that was closed 10 years ago. He wondered how seizure of a few documents would tantamount to procuring key evidence on tax evasion.Ramesh clarified that there is no truth in some media reports that key evidence was procured during the searches. He said neither he nor his company has any account in Allahabad Bank . IT officials could seize only Rs 3.3 lakh from the house of one of his relatives. The raids were conducted at 20 places. "About Rs 2.3 lakh was meant for offering vows to God. We established the company in 1998. We are all filing income tax returns regularly," he claimed.Ramesh challenged his opponents to prove that AP government gave him big contracts on nomination basis. Ramesh is a confidante of Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He is one of the TDP leaders whose companies were raided by the IT officials recently.
