VISAKHAPATNAM: The slanging match continues between TDP and YSRCP over the attacker Srinivasa Rao’s political affiliation. On Sunday TDP said Rao’s party ID card was fake. An ‘identity card’ with the photo of Srinivasa Rao’s brother Subba Raju was also in circulation.Sources said police submitted the remand report to the VII additional metropolitan magistrate’s court. The accused is being grilled once again to verify facts. The police questioned Srinivasa Rao why he took help of others to write the letter he carried on the day of the attack.Officials of special investigation team, which was set up to investigate the attack, focused on Srinivasa Rao’s bank accounts and his mobile call data, besides the letter recovered from him. “We are focusing on call data of last three months to find who are involved in the case and what influenced the accused,” an investigating officer told TOI. Officials are also analysing the CCTV footage of the hotel and the airport.Police are also verifying facts about the flexi allegedly erected by Srinivasa Rao in the village. They asked a few villagers about the picture of an eagle (garuda) on the flexi. The picture of an eagle on the flexi gains sigjnificance in the backdrop of allegations by TDP leadership, including chief minister Chandrababu Naidu that the attack on Jagan was part of the so-called Operation Garuda “intended to defame” Naidu government.The remand report was submitted by airport police station inspector Malla Seshu. It stated protocol inspector Vasudev was on the scene when the attack took place. While Jagan was talking with partymen at the VIP lounge of airport, Ramadevi, a service assistant of Fusion Food Restaurant, came to serve tea. Srinivas came along with Ramadevi to the lounge to serve water bottles after which the accused remained in the lounge, standing next to Jagan. When senior party leader of YSRC Karanam Dharmasri was taking a selfie with Jagan, the accused took out a knife from his pocket and tried to stab him in the neck.Noticing the attack, Jagan moved aside and escaped, but he received injury on his left shoulder. Soon after the incident, the protocol inspector and leaders of YSRC caught the accused and seized the knife. The police also recovered a blade.YSRC leaders said the remand report highlighted that the accused had full knowledge of Jagan’s travel plan to Hyderabad and planned the murder. The accused concealed two knives and a letter.
