According to information, the government had appointed additional commissioner K Ramachandra Reddy, a senior official in the municipal administration department, as in-charge commissioner following a request made by a TDP legislator. A GO was also issued (GO RT-986) on Saturday giving Ramachandra Reddy Full Additional Charge (FAC) as commissioner. The senior officials in the GAD realized the folly in the late hours and advised municipal administration principal secretary Karikal Valaven to name Joint Collector AMD Intiaz, an IAS officer as in-charge commissioner of GMC. Sources said that the decision to make Ramachandra Reddy as FAC was also taken following the pressure from the legislator as it enables him to clear the files with financial implications. The in-charge commissioner would not have powers to clear the files with monetary affairs.Normally, FAC is given when the incumbent officer is going on long leave at least for about a month.

Sources said that the lobby of contractors and engineering officials influenced the legislator to make Ramachandra Reddy as FAC commissioner as they have been facing trouble in getting the bills since Lathkar took over the reins of GMC as he had been scrutinizing each and every bill before giving his nod.The contractors and engineering officials took Lathkar’s leave as an opportunity and influenced the government to appoint Ramachandra Reddy as FAC commissioner. The senior officials in the GAD realized the folly in the late hours and advised municipal administration principal secretary Karikal Valaven to name Joint Collector AMD Intiaz, an IAS officer as in-charge commissioner of GMC.
