Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao inaugurates Telemedicon2018

She added that Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to take Telemedicine to the primary health center level. VIJAYAWADA: The 14th International seminar, Telemedicon-2018 , organised by the Telemedicine Society of India, was formally launched by civil supplies minister Prathipati Pulla Rao, at KL University in Tadepalli of Krishna district on Friday.Addressing the gathering, the minister said that soon the state will have complete coverage of fiber network and through this, telemedicine facility will be made accessible to every household. He added that telemedicine is especially crucial for people living in remote areas and have difficulty getting specialist consultation.Former health minister Kamineni Srinivas said that telemedicine is a viable solution in the state where there is only one specialist doctor for every one lakh population. He also said that it is important to take advantage of the growing technology to meet the healthcare needs of the people.Health secretary Poonam Malakondaiah urged the delegates of the conference to discuss the security and equity aspects of the telemedicine and said that the Andhra Pradesh government is enthusiastic to take the help of technology to provide better services to the people.
