TTD revoked move on marriage halls after request by speaker Putta Sudhakar Yada

GUNTUR: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams TTD ) board has revoked its decision not to fund the construction of new marriage halls in the state following a request made by assembly speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.The TTD board had agreed to take up the construction work of a marriage hall at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore in Devarampadu village of Rajupalem mandal in Sattenapalle constituency in the district. TTD chairman Putta Sudhakar Yadav and assembly speaker Dr Kodela laid the foundation stone for the new function hall on Monday.Addressing the gathering, TTD chairman Sudhakar Yadav said that they have suspended their move on construction of new marriage halls only after repeated requests came from speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. He said that they have dedicated the new marriage hall to the village following an assurance that it would be managed and maintained by a committee of locals.“The board had in fact resolved not to take up the construction work of marriage halls particularly in rural area as maintenance has become a big burden. Several marriage halls were abandoned due to the lack of support from the locals. However, we are made to revisit the decision and grant new marriage hall to Sattenapalle assembly constituency,” said Yadav. He said that they would complete the construction and hand it over to the locals committee within 9 months.Assembly speaker Dr Kodela said that hundreds of devotees regularly visit Nethi Venkanna Swamy of Devarampadu village. He said that locals brought to his notice that at least 100-150 marriages ceremonies were performed in the presence of the Lord which prompted him to get the marriage hall. He thanked local farmer Sundara Ramaiah for sparing one acre land for construction of the marriage hall.
