CM asks power cos to submit action plan for next 15 years

VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday directed power utilities to submit a comprehensive action plan to meet the power demand for the next 15 years.Principal secretary K Vijayanand said the demand for power has been increasing in the state with new industries coming up. Discoms have tied up adequate power to protect the interests of consumers," he said adding that the Discoms are meeting the demand of 80 million units per day. So the CM has sought the power utilities to prepare an action plan and submit it on November 16.He also asserted there would be heavy power demand in view of construction of Amaravati, the rapid industrialization and economic development in AP"Power utilities have geared up to meet the ensuing demand in Rabi crop season. This is 10 per cent more than that of last year.The grid consumption is likely to grow up to 200 million units per day and the maximum demand would be around 10,200MW in the next summer season," he said, adding that the total installed renewable energy capacity in the state will go up to 6,950 megawatts.
