Abu Dhabi wins Indias firstever F1H20 Grand Prix

Team Abu Dhabi's Erik Stark who was the pace-setter in the morning's practice session came in third to win the bronze medal.Third place went to Emirates Racing's Marit Stromoy with Erik Stark making it a one-three for Abu Dhabi. The 44-lap contest kicked off at 4 pm at Punnami Ghat where Shaun Torrente who held the pole position started out slow behind the only woman racer Marit Stromoy.On Lap 5, Torrente zoomed past Stromoy and maintained his number one position till the end of the race. VIJAYAWADA: Sustaining his winning momentum from the beginning of this year's F1H2O World Championship, Shaun Torrente of Team Abu Dhabi clinched his seventh career victory with a phenomenal performance to win the UIM F1H2O Grand Prix of India on Sunday.Coming in at an emphatic second place, Team Emirates racer Marit Stromoy defeated almost all of her male counterparts and gave a tough contest to Shaun Torrente in the Krishna waters. Meanwhile, in earlier F4-S championship, Britain's Sam Whittle secured his first Grand Prix title for Team F1 Atlantic with a solid second place in today's second race of the weekend behind Victory Team 's Ahmed Al Fahim, the win putting him into third overall.Series newcomer Ben Jelf completed a very impressive debut coming home in third place to seal the runners-up slot.It was pole-sitter Al Fahim who dominated from the start and again at the restart on Lap 3 after the yellow flag was raised to remove the stationary Mad Croc boat.
