Kia Motors signs deal with Andhra Pradesh government for ecofriendly cars

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradeshgovernment on Thursday signed a deal with Kia Motors India for introduction of eco-friendly vehicles to the Indian market.Soon after signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU), Kia Motors gifted three electric vehicles, a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and electric model, to the state government.The ‘Partnership for Future Eco Mobility’ was signed in the presence of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Kookhyun Shim, managing director and chief executive officer of Kia Motors India. CM Naidu said the state government had developed 14 ‘smart cities’, enhanced the lives of residents and enabled businesses to optimize their resources.“Future mobility will be defined by connected and sustainable technologies that play an important role in bringing customer lifestyles and what’s good for the environment together,” said Kookhyun Shim.The three Niro vehicles provided to Andhra Pradesh include the new Niro EV, a fully electric crossover capable of travelling 455 kilometres on a single charge by Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test procedure (WLTP) combined test cycle.
