Andhra Pradesh: Mulapadu and Kondapalli forests turn into tipplers’ dumpyard

VIJAYAWADA: The forests of Mulapadu and Kondapalli have turned into a drunkards’ haven and the ecologically sensitive destination is not just being used as a drinking spot, but also as a dumpyard by the tipplers. “We would like to urge people to keep the forests clean and ensure that the animals aren’t affected by the garbage. The change should happen from within,” Suresh added. Vijayawada Adventure Club members conducted a cleanliness drive inside the Mulapadu forest and recovered around 50 bags of alcohol bottles and plastic waste on Sunday.Speaking to TOI, Kaluva Suresh, a techie by profession and one of the founding members of the Adventure Club explained that around 25 volunteers took up the task of clearing as much waste as possible from the forests.

Vijayawada Adventure Club members conducted a cleanliness drive inside the Mulapadu forest and recovered around 50 bags of alcohol bottles and plastic waste on Sunday.Speaking to TOI, Kaluva Suresh, a techie by profession and one of the founding members of the Adventure Club explained that around 25 volunteers took up the task of clearing as much waste as possible from the forests. “We have been regularly trekking in these forest areas and have conducted regular clean ups in these regions, but the pile up continues to increase day by day and there are instances where we have witnessed animals dying from eating them,” Suresh told TOI.Suresh explained that while they managed to clear up to 50 bags, there are still tonnes of them waiting to be cleaned from the premise. Compared to Kondapalli, Suresh explained that the garbage in Mulapadu was even more this time. “We would like to urge people to keep the forests clean and ensure that the animals aren’t affected by the garbage. The change should happen from within,” Suresh added.
