YSR Congress delegation meets assembly secretary

VIJAYAWADA: A delegation of the YSR Congress legislators met the assembly secretary on Saturday and submitted a representation seeking installation of the party leader M Thippe Swamy as Madakasira MLA. They wanted the speaker to complete this process at the earliest.However, the speaker was not available at the assembly and the assembly secretary had informed the YSR Congress delegation that they would revert to them once the speaker is available in his office. The YSR Congress MLAs Admimulapu Suresh and Kona Raghupathi, accompanied by Dr Thippe Swamy also submitted a copy of the Supreme Court order disqualifying the TDP MLA Eeranna.The TDP MLA had already submitted his resignation to the assembly following the Supreme Court judgment. The YSR Congress leaders said that they have already forwarded a copy of the Supreme Court order to the speaker through email and fax and expressed confidence that the speaker would act at the earliest. He said that there were two cases pending against Eeranna in Karnataka which were not mentioned in the election affidavit.

The YSR Congress MLAs Admimulapu Suresh and Kona Raghupathi, accompanied by Dr Thippe Swamy also submitted a copy of the Supreme Court order disqualifying the TDP MLA Eeranna.The TDP MLA had already submitted his resignation to the assembly following the Supreme Court judgment. The Supreme Court had upheld the judgement of the Hyderabad high court which disqualified the TDP MLA for not disclosing facts about the police cases against him, in the affidavit filed at the time of nomination.Dr Thippe Swamy had filed a case in the high court informing the court that the TDP legislator had mislead the Election Commission. He said that there were two cases pending against Eeranna in Karnataka which were not mentioned in the election affidavit. Similarly, the TDP leader did not also inform the details about his wife who's a government employee.As the court found that these allegations were right and was convinced that Eeranna had mislead the Election Commission by hiding the facts on which the court disqualified him. Though the TDP leader had appealed in the Supreme Court against the high court order, the apex court upheld the orders following which Eeranna had submitted his resignation on Friday.The YSR Congress delegation asked the speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao to act on the Supreme Court order and install Dr Thippe Swamy as the MLA. They wanted the speaker to complete this process at the earliest.However, the speaker was not available at the assembly and the assembly secretary had informed the YSR Congress delegation that they would revert to them once the speaker is available in his office. The YSR Congress leaders said that they have already forwarded a copy of the Supreme Court order to the speaker through email and fax and expressed confidence that the speaker would act at the earliest.
