APCRDA to start brainstorming summit on lsquoHappy Citiesrsquo with experts from today

The summit, which is divided into six key themes, aims to make Amaravati at the forefront of discussions on urban innovation with a focus on citizen happiness.Total six-panel discussions, three focused workshops and plenaries will be held along with the field visit to Amaravati.The APCRDA has initiated the “Amaravati Design Challenge 2019” to capture exciting ideas and concepts from the students of architecture, design, planning to add value to the development of Amaravati. Vijaywada: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority ( APCRDA ) is going to organise the three-day ‘Happy Cities Summit, Amaravati 2019’ from today.The objective of the summit is to bring the upcoming capital city to the forefront of urban innovation.The state government, which is aiming to promote Amaravati as one of the happy cities in the world, will organise the ‘Happy Cities Summit’ for the second consecutive year.The summit will bring together over 40 city leaders including mayors, Greenfield city leaders, commissioners and other participants from more than 30 countries, along with experts , delegates from various industries and institutions, to discuss the ways that have the chances to make cities all over the world happier.Aisha Bin Bishr, director general, Smart Dubai and Charles Montgomery, author of ‘Happy City’, will be the keynote speakers at the summit along with the chief minister of the state, N Chandrababu Naidu.Cherukuri Sridhar, commissioner of APCRDA, said that the discussions at the summit will focus on the government of Andhra Pradesh to learn from global cities and inculcate best practices in not just Amaravati but also in the overall urban development of the state.“The summit also enables various stakeholders of Amaravati, including its officials, investors, experts to come together to discuss strategic projects that will substantially enhance the living conditions and happiness of the citizens,” he said.
