Major jolt for Cong as Kotla family to join TDP on Feb 28

It is also been understood from party sources, that the ruling party has also promised to accommodate Kotla Raghavendra Reddy as an MLC.Meanwhile, Kurnool district’s TDP strongman and deputy chief minister KE Krishnamurthy who raised objections over the inclusion of Kotla's family into the TDP fold owing to decades-long political rivalry between the two families to gain political supremacy in the district, is also keen to field one of his family members from the Dhone assembly seat which Kotla Sujathamma has been eyeing.Now it remains to be seen how the TDP leadership attends the issue without ruffling the sentiments on either side in the run-up to the crucial 2019 polls. It may be recalled that the Suryaprakash Reddy’s father Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy who represented the Congress party all along his life was a two time CM of Andhra Pradesh in 1982 and later in 1992.After back to back meetings with TDP supremo and senior party leaders over the last few weeks, Suryaprakash Reddy is learnt to have assured of being fielded from the Kurnool Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 polls.While the TDP leadership is also learnt to have assured the former union minister of accommodating his wife Kotla Sujathamma either from Dhone or Aluru assembly constituencies, Kotla has appealed Naidu to consider fielding Sujathamma from the Dhone assembly segment. Tirupati: Senior Congress leader and former union minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy - a political strongman from Kurnool district will formally join the ruling Telugu Desam Party ( TDP ) in the presence of party supremo and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Kurnool on February 28.Suryaprakash Reddy, a three-time MP and the former union minister of state for railways during the UPA II regime along with his wife Kotla Sujathamma and son Kotla Raghavendra Reddy will together join the TDP during a massive public meeting slated to be held at Kodumuru in Kurnool district on Feb 28.In the next couple of days, the Kotla family is expected to sever ties with Congress, thus ending more than six decades of the family's association with the national party which has been finding it extremely hard to revive its interests in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
